Camelia Viruses

Viruses are common among the older varieties and show as yellow areas on the leaves. This is unsightly but does little harm beyond a slight weakening of the plant.

The virus is carried by leaf-sucking insects, especially aphids. There is no cure; twigs with entirely yellow leaves are best cut out. Be aware that yellow leaves may also be due to lack of fertilizer, especially iron or magnesium, or a soil that is too limey.
