Planting Aftercare

A rhododendron will take about eight weeks to root properly and during that time it will need a lot of attention. Later on, it will manage with relatively little care

Four steps to success
  1. Make sure the soil is sufficiently moist. Once soil containing peat has completely dried out, it will not absorb water very readily
  2. Increase the humidity of the surrounding air during a dry period.
  3. During a spell of persistently sunny weather (particularly if this is combined with severe frosts), make sure there is some shade.
  4. If you have planted your rhododendrons in the spring, do not fertilize them for the first time until at least three weeks after planting and, at the very latest, shortly after the flowering period. If the rhododendrons were planted in the autumn, do not fertilize them until the following mid-spring.
